BETWEEN BLACK, WHITE AND GREYNESS, A SELF-PORTRAIT OF A TOXIC MAN EMERGING FROM THE SHADOWS. THIS WORK SEEMS BANAL. NOT VERY INVENTIVE COMPARED TO PICASSO’S MASTERPIECES. THIS WORK IS LIKE AN ATTEMPT AT A PSYCHOLOGICAL SELF-PORTRAIT OF THE ARTIST. WE CAN SEE THE DARK SIDE OF THE TOXIC MAN. HE’S ALONE, ISOLATED. IN THE DARK, A CLOSE-UP TAKES UP THE ENTIRE PICTORIAL SPACE. ITS HEAD APPEARS DISPROPORTIONATE TO ITS NECK. WE SEE AN EGO ON THAT SAME SCALE. A SUCCESSION OF BRUSHSTROKES, OVERLOADED WITH PAINT, CREATE A FACE THAT LOSES ITSELF IN ITS MATERIALITY. IT’S A MATTER OF URGENCY. MAN DISSOLVES INTO HIS OWN FIGURATION. WE WITNESS A NON-IDEALISTIC REPRESENTATION OF THE GREAT MASTER. A DICHOTOMOUS REPRESENTATION THAT IS BOTH VIOLENT AND ALMOST CHILDLIKE. THE FACE IS STRUCTURED BY A DUALISTIC GAZE, WITH ONE EYE OPEN AND THE OTHER BLACK, AS IN ONE OF THE DRAWINGS IN DORA MAAR’S PRIVATE COLLECTION. PICASSO REPRESENTS IN “LA CÉLESTINE”. CARLOTTA VALDIVIA. BROTHEL KEEPER, WITH AN OPEN EYE EXPRESSING POWER AND AN EYE VEILED BY A PILLOWCASE SYMBOLIZING TROUBLE. THE INNER EYE. ALL IN BLACK. WHITE AND GRISAILLE, TOUCHES OF OCHRE AND RED, COLORS REMINISCENT OF BODILY FLUIDS, ENERGIZE THE COMPOSITION OF BLOOD, EARTH AND EXCREMENT. THE ARTIST SEEMS TO VOMIT HIMSELF. ES COMO UN INTENTO DE AUTORRETRATO PSICOLÓGICO DEL ARTISTA. EN ELLA SE PUEDE VER EL LADO SOMBRIO DEL HOMBRE TÓXICO. ESTA SOLO, AISLADO. EN LA OSCURIDAD, UN PRIMER PLANO OCUPA TODO EL ESPACIO PICTÓRICO. SU CABEZA PARECE DESPROPORCIONADA CON RESPECTO A SU CUELLO. VEMOS UN EGO A LA MISMA ESCALA.
